Come stai? Spero che tutto vada bene, nonostante la delicata situazione dovuta alla pandemia che stiamo ancora vivendo.
Qui nelle Filippine giorno dopo giorno il numero delle persone infette va aumentando, anche se sono molti coloro che si impegnano a osservare i protocolli stabiliti dal Governo e dalle autorità ecclesiastiche.
Per questa ragione, la scuola ne risulta molto colpita. Normalmente noi iniziamo l’anno scolastico in giugno, ma a causa del COVID 19 la data è spostata ad agosto, esattamente il 24 di tale mese, ma agli studenti è vietato recarsi fisicamente a scuola, e pertanto quest’anno noi adotteremo il sistema “New Normal”, il che significa che non ci saranno lezioni faccia a faccia, ma on-line. Gli studenti avranno bisogno di studiare da casa, on-line, e saranno affiancati dai genitori/tutori. Pertanto necessitano di strumenti e connessione internet a casa. Ma per coloro che non posseggono tali strumenti e non sono nelle condizioni di avere accesso a internet , il Dipartimento dell’Istruzione offre delle alternative (soprattutto a coloro che abitano in zone remote), come: televisione, radio o materiali scolastici stampati: in tal caso gli insegnanti possono avere un luogo prestabilito dove lasciare il materiale stampato e in qualche modo gli studenti/genitori/tutori possono trasmettere loro il materiale con le risposte. Si tratterà di un esperimento e così i ragazzi potranno continuare gli studi. Certi studenti in alcune zone del paese non si sono ancora iscritti per la paura di venir infettati dal virus, altri non hanno i mezzi per studiare e altri ancora si trovano in aree lontane da dove non possono accedere allo studio.
Le persone, specie i giovani che puoi vedere nella foto (loro sono dei nostri vicini), fanno del loro meglio, nonostante la situazione, ma sono stanchi di starsene a casa soprattutto questa settimana, dato che qui nella zona c’è di nuovo un “Lockdown” e lo stesso vale per molti villaggi vicini dove ci sono molti nuovi casi.
Rose Anne, continua bene, come puoi vedere da questa foto. Sta crescendo. Frequenterà ancora la Classe XI questo anno scolastico 2020-2021. Come ricorderai, lei ha abbandonato la scuola lo scorso mese di gennaio. A causa della pandemia, abbiamo nuovamente contattato una persona con un posto internet vicino alla casa di Rose Anne e di suo fratello Reynold (che continua anche bene. Sta crescendo. Frequenterà la Classe III quest’anno scolastico 2020-2021. Anch’egli studierà on-line a causa della pandemia), e pertanto potranno recarsi assieme sul posto dove c’è l’accesso a internet. Noi ci siamo accordati che ci faremo carico delle quote mensili. Abbiamo scoperto che lei ha un boyfriend, infatti sua madre un giorno è venuta a dircelo in lacrime. E perciò noi l’abbiamo consigliata, dicendole che è troppo giovane per queste cose e che farebbe meglio a finire prima di tutto gli studi, essendo la figlia maggiore nella sua famiglia, e che in seguito potrà essere in grado di aiutare la propria famiglia a risollevarsi dalla povertà…con l’aiuto di Dio.
Suo padre adesso è con loro ma non ha lavoro. Lui lavorava nel settore edile, ma durante il lockdown e anche adesso è restato a casa anche se riesce ad avere piccoli lavori occasionali. Grazie a Dio attraverso il tuo aiuto e la generosità noi siamo riuscite a dare loro una mano nel fornire alimentari e materiale per l’igiene, come sapone, dentifricio, shampoo, etc.

Noi speriamo e preghiamo che questa pandemia finisca, poiché la gente sta soffrendo in tutto, specialmente nelle necessità primarie. Certamente il nostro Dio ci sta insegnando qualcosa di buono in questa situazione, e noi abbiamo fiducia nella misericordia di Dio e nella sua compassione.
Grazie molte per l’aiuto fornito a Rose Anne/Reynold e alla loro famiglia. Noi ti auguriamo ogni bene, buona salute e sicurezza nella grazia del Signore.

How are you? I hope that you are doing fine despite of the fact that we are still experiencing the delicate situation of pandemic.
Here in the Philippines day by day the number of the infected persons continue on increasing even if many people strive to observe the protocols to be observed given by the government as well as the authority of the church.
For this reason, the school is very much affected. Normally we start the school year by June but because of COVID 19 it is moved on August, precisely on the 24th of the said month where the students are prohibited to go to school physically, and so this year we have to adopt the “New Normal” way of schooling, that means not anymore face to face in school but through on-line. The students need to study at home, on line and they will be assisted by their parents/guardian. So they need to have gadgets and internet connection at home. But for those who don’t have gadgets and are far that they don’t have access to internet, the Department of Education offers other alternatives, (especially for those who are in the remote areas) like through the: the television, the radio or printed school materials where the teachers may have an agreed place where they could leave the printed materials and in the same way the students/parents or guardian could submit their answered materials. This will also be a sort of experiment so that the children could continue their studies. Some of the students in some part of the country are not yet enrolled because of fear of being infected by the virus, others they don’t have the means to study and some other are far from where they could have an access for studies.
The people, especially the young as you can see in this photo (they are our neighbors), strive to be fine, despite of the situation that they are already bored to stay at home especially this week here in our zone we are again in “Lockdown” as there are many new cases of infection in the nearby villages.
Rose Anne, is doing fine, as you can see in this photo. She is growing up. She will still be in Grade XI this School Year 2020-2021. As you remember she quitted from her studies last month of January. Due to the pandemic, we have contacted already a person with a place of internet near to the house of Rose Anne and his brother Reynold (who is also doing fine. He is growing up. He will be in Grade III this School Year 2020-2021. He too will be studying on line due to the pandemic), so they could go together and have the on line classes. We agreed to them that we will take charge of the monthly dues. We found out that she has boyfriend in fact her mother came one day and was crying to us about it. And so we advised her that she is too young for that and it’s better for her to finish first her studies, as she is the eldest child of the family, so that later on she would be able to help her family and uplift them from poverty…hopefully with God’s grace.
His father right now is with them but he has no work. He used to work in a before in construction but during the lockdown and even now remained in their house even if from time to time he has minimal work. Thanks God that through your help and generosity we were able to extend them a hand in providing for them groceries and some hygiene like soap, toothpaste, shampoo etc.

We hope and pray that this pandemic will come to an end, as people are suffering in everything specially the basic needs. Surely our God is teaching us something good in this this situation, yet we trust in God’s mercy and compassion.
